community loom invitation

as humanimals we are of this earth, held by this earth, who has been tended to in loving reciprocity for thousands of years by Indigenous folks before the violence of the settler colonial project that is painfully ongoing. here we are. may we hold this complexity, and all that it stirs, with tenderness as we take a breath and if just for a moment, make space for something else.
the intention for the opening ceremony and this community loom, is to come together and listen into what’s possible outside of the engines of what’s been prescribed for us. there is power in what we pay attention to – in our curiosities and desires – in how they take shape and in how they shape us. our intentions amplify in our coming together.
the invitation:
- from the array in this bay window, find a material that calls to you
- hold it or be in contact with it in some way that feels good to you, as you listen for an intention / dream / vision / prayer : for yourself, for your community or humanity at large, and for the land and water that sustain us
- invite the material to take the imprint of these intentions
- notice what happens in your body as you connect with these visions, follow any urges or impulses
- weave your material into our community tapestry. there is no right way! it is ok if the addition of your material changes the positioning of the existing weaving!
on the altar across the room there is a jar of spring water with pieces of material from the opening ceremony. at the closing of this loom portal, on the fall equinox, that water will be returned to the earth. if you would like the material that has been imbued with your intentions to be added to that jar, please leave a small piece in the bowl on the pedestal.
