Afterthought: Preview Film Screening & Exhibition Closing Reception
Sun, Mar 26, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

SCREENING, RECEPTION / PARTY

Please join producer/director Charlotte Juergens and artist Laura Taylor for a screening of scenes from a film in progress, followed by conversation and a closing reception for their co-curated exhibition COMMEMORATING COVID.

Currently in production, Afterthought is a documentary feature about COVID memorials and the people who build them. It centers on two projects: a community memorial in Detroit involving thousands of participants, and one artist’s personal memorial in NYC commemorating the loss of a friend. In documenting these stories, Afterthought memorializes individuals lost and communities changed by the pandemic and asks universal questions about shared trauma, memory, and healing.

Charlotte Juergens is a filmmaker, archival producer, and history scholar from Brooklyn, New York. She recently directed the feature documentary Sunken Roads, which premiered theatrically in 2021.
