Join us for a reading by poet Matt Longabucco, followed by a set of original songs and text/sound collaborations by singer/cellist Serena Jost and poet/musician Dan Machlin. Doors at 7:00, poetry at 7:45, music at 8:00. Entry by donation, sliding scale ($10-$20 suggested). Come at 7:00 to take in our current exhibition before the performance starts!
Serena Jost and Dan Machlin have been collaborating and performing together for over 20 years, alongside their solo work in music and poetry. Jost has released three full length albums, including A Bird Will Sing (produced by Anton Fier) and most recently, Up To The Sky, a solo voice and cello album recorded live at St. Peter’s Church, NYC. Dan has published several books of poetry and his poems have recently been featured in BOMB magazine, The Brooklyn Rail and The Recluse. A performance of unexpected intersections and familiar intimacies.
Matt Longabucco is the author of the chapbooks Heroic Dose (Inpatient Press, 2019) Athens Notebook (Imp, 2017), The Sober Day (DoubleCross Press, 2016), and Everybody Suffers: The Selected Poems of Juan García Madero (O’Clock Press, 2014). From 2012 to 2014, he curated the Friday Night Series at the Poetry Project. In 2013, he co-founded Wendy’s Subway, an independent library and community arts space in Brooklyn. He is also an associate at Bard College’s Institute for Writing and Thinking.
