Victoria Lundell’s Modern Dance Flow Basics
Sat, Sep 03, 9:30 am - 11:00 am

CLASS / WORKSHOP

Modern dancer Victoria Lundell (Mark Morris, Parsons) developed Modern Dance Flow Basics in response to the lack of opportunity for adults with an interest in dance to be met at their own skill level in a weekly class that offers an accessible experience of the structured alignment, focus, musicality, play, and artistry of modern dance. Blending modern techniques and styles from Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Bella Lewitsky, and Paul Taylor with elements from ballet, improvisational moments, and stretching and strengthening moves from Yoga and Pilates, Modern Dance Flow Basics reflects years of thinking about how to bring the joys of dance to the non-professional adult. No modern dance experience is necessary, though some experience with yoga, pilates, social dance, or any form of structured movement is helpful. Absolute beginners will be offered modifications when applicable

$15/session, payable on-site to the instructor.

For 40 years Victoria Lundell has enjoyed being an eclectic professional modern dancer. Her credits include the NYC-based Mark Morris Dance Group, The Parsons Dance Company, Wendy Osserman Dance Company, the Michigan-based Ann Arbor Dance Works, Harbinger Dance Company, and has guested with Aszure Barton, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Anita Cheng, Gail Gilbert, Ruth Davidson-Hahn, and the Mexico City-based Metropolis-Utopia Danza Teatro, among others. She currently maintains a private practice in Iyengar-based yoga teaching and bodywork. She has taught young students in Delaware County through the Roxbury Arts Group and The Delhi Dance Studio.
