Join us for a night of information and inspiration led by trailblazing transgender activist Denise Norris. In her talk, she will present lessons learned from the struggle for marriage equality, and share strategies for how we can respond to the attack against the rights of the transgender and gender diverse communities. Free and open to all. This program is hosted by Delaware County Pride’s group for Parents and Caregivers of LGBTQIA+ Youth.

Since the 1990s, Denise Norris has been a powerful force in advancing marriage equality and transgender inclusion, transforming challenges into opportunities for change. In 1993, she co-founded The Transexual Menace, one of the first national transgender rights activist organizations, alongside Riki Wilchins. In recognition of her tireless dedication, SUNY Oneonta’s Women and Gender Studies Department proudly named its Gender Activism Award in her honor.
Delaware County Pride is a group of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies in rural NY. Through education, advocacy, and community-building activities, they strive to create a Delaware County where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identify, can live authentically and freely.
