The inimitable Lanny Harrison returns to Bushel to lead a CHARACTERS IN MOTION workshop. The session will begin with sitting meditation, followed by a physical warm-up, and then proceed to The Snake Dance, a meditation-in-action exercise. Attendees will also explore a theatrical/movement exercise with support of a deck of Lanny’s Character cards. A taste of the workshop here.

This workshop is open to all from every walk of life. The only thing required is an open mind. Individuals of all abilities welcome!

Lanny Harrison is a performer, teacher, poet, and visual artist. She has been teaching theater and movement since 1968, particularly at Naropa University, where she will return for their 50th anniversary this spring. Her course Performing Stories: East Meets West at NYU’s Gallatin Division was successful for 25 years. Her ongoing Characters in Motion workshop in NYC was housed at NY Shambhala Center & will be taught again this winter. She has been a member of Meredith Monk’s group the House, since 1969. Harrison is a founding teacher of the theater workshops at West Kortright Center. She collaborates with musicians & other performers in duets & group shows. Her solo work has toured the States & Europe. Her book Characters in Motion – a workbook of Improvisational Exercises came out in Spring 2025. Lanny Harrison has been a student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche since 1971.
